What is Disability Insurance (DI)? 

DI helps replace a major portion of your income if you become sick or injured and are unable to work. 

43% of all people, age 40, will have a long-term (lasting 90 days or more) disability event by age 65.  

We think of DI as Paycheck Protection. 

What would you do if you became sick or injured for a period of time and were unable to work?  How would you make you house payment, car payment or even buy groceries?  Most people are quick to insure their home and car, but not their paycheck.  

There are 2 types of Group Disability Insurance: 

• Short Term Disability - provides coverage that can pay up to 60% of your income. Coverage normally starts after a short elimination period, typically 7 days. Coverage normally continues for a period of up to 13 weeks.  
• Long Term Disability - provides coverage that can pay up to 60% of  your income. Coverage normally starts after the elimination period, typically 3 months.  Coverage normally continues for a set number of years, like 2 years or 5 years or until a certain age, like 65.
